Advancing experimental and theoretical research in turbulence, energy systems, and complex flow-structure dynamics.
The T-FSI Lab at the University of South Carolina investigates turbulence, renewable energy flows, and complex interactions between fluids and structures. Our lab integrates cutting-edge experimental techniques, including planar, stereo, and volumetric Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV), Particle Tracking Velocimetry (PTV), Digital Image Correlation (DIC), and custom-designed force balance systems to tackle challenges in wind & marine energy, turbulence control, and bio-inspired design.
Our group is looking for 1-2 highly motivated Ph.D. students. Students with bachelor’s or master’s degrees in mechanical engineering or other closely related fields are encouraged to apply. Candidates with backgrounds in experimental/theoretical fluid mechanics are especially welcome.
To apply, please send your CV, unofficial transcript, and other supporting materials to Dr. Cheng to discuss potential opportunities.
